About SimpleCases

Here, you can read all about how SimpleCases are made, the features they have, and what's included.

Construction Details

Dimensions
Dimensions: 13" Long x 9 1/2" Wide x 2 3/4" Tall Including the Rubber Feet
SimpleCases were designed to be compact enough for easy travel, yet big enough so you don't feel cramped while playing.

Finishing
SimpleCases are sold unfinished, meaning no clear coat or paint is applied. Each case and control panel is rough sanded to 100 grit to remove most machining marks. Some final sanding will be required before a clear coat or paint is applied. Sanding to 120-150 is fine for cases that will be painted, while sanding to 180-220 is ideal for clear coats. To be sure, follow the surface preperation procedure on the label of whatever finish you'll be using.

Loose Tenon Construction
Every SimpleCase is constructed with durable loose tenon construction. This method of joinery is much stronger than plain butt joints or dowels, as there is much more glue surface. In addition, there are no screw or nail holes that need filling. The image below demonstrates the process.

Threaded Inserts for Bottom Panels
All SimpleCases have die-cast zinc threaded inserts installed in the bottom of the corner blocks. This allows for repeated removal and insertion of the bottom polycarbonate panels without fear of stripping out the screw holes. The rubber feet can be screwed and unscrewed by hand; no screwdriver is necessary. This provides easy access to the inside of your SimpleCase. Below is an image of a threaded insert installed in a corner block.

All-Around Panel Support
Both the top control panel and bottom polycarbonate panels are supported all the way around on a shallow recesses routed into the case. This prevents the bottom panels from bowing in during use. This is especially evident when playing with the stick on your lap.

Control Panel Layout and Cord Options

Each SimpleCase control panel has an 8 button Vewlix layout. This is a very versatile layout that is well suited to many different fighting games. On the rear of the case are three recessed 24mm holes, typically used for the Start, Select and Home buttons, and a Universal Neutrik Port. The Universal Neutrik Port accepts the Neutrik NAUSB USB pass-through connector as well as the Neutrik NE8FDP RJ45 and Switchcraft EHRJ45P5E RJ45 pass-through connectors. Screws are included for mounting a Neutrik NAUSB USB connector or Switchcraft EHRJ45P5E connector. Screws are not needed for the Neutrik NE8FDP connector as they are included with the connector from the manufacturer.

Please note that for the Switchcraft EHRJ45P5E to fit properly, you must first separate the plate from the jack. This is easily done by lifting a small tab on the bottom of the plate housing and twisting the jack body down and away from the plate. Once this is done, simply install the plate into the case with the screws included in the hardware kit, and snap the jack back into place. Below are images of the three connectors.
